Fame is about to bite Boston’s Julia Jones in a big way
25 Jan 2010
Julia Jones, an actress from Jamaica Plain who appears in the third installment of the "Twilight" series, says “Twlight” fans shouldn’t be worried about “Eclipse.” She promises it will be good – and true to the series.
LOS ANGELES — If the first two installments of the ‘‘Twilight’’ franchise have proven anything, it’s that anyone associated with the wildly popular teen vampire movies will become instantly famous and be followed around by the paparazzi. That’s fantastic-yet-overwhelming news for Boston native Julia Jones.
Jones, 29, has a pivotal role in ‘‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse,’’ the third film in the teen vampire series based on the best-selling books by Stephenie Meyer. In the movie, due in theaters June 30, Jones plays Leah Clearwater, the only female werewolf in the pack, a mostly miserable young woman who is cursed with the power to read the mind of her ex-boyfriend — who has fallen in love with someone else. Jones explains that Meyer’s detailed portrait of Leah helped her fall in love with the angsty, supernatural character.
“Because Stephenie Meyer wrote the layers, you’re kind of serving something else,’’ says Jones, who had a small role on NBC’s “ER’’ and acted in a few indie films before landing the role in “Eclipse.’’ “Usually you’re looking for any clue you can in a script - usually it’s skeletal, because it’s not prose. But in this case, there’s 3,000 pages of detail.’’

'Twilight' Star Tinsel Korey On Haiti: 'This Is Just The Beginning'
24 Jan 2010
Editor's Note: In response to the crisis in Haiti, the world's top stars came together Friday (January 22) for the one-of-a-kind telethon "Hope for Haiti Now." Pitching in alongside Robert Pattinson and her other co-stars, "Twilight Saga" actress Tinsel Korey was eager to help in any way she could. Earlier, Tinsel published her plea for donations in an exclusive piece written for MTV. Now, Tinsel closes out her guest-correspondent duties by talking about the moments of the telethon that touched her most — and reminding us all that even though the program is over, there is still much work to be done.
I was asked by MTV to write a piece after the show was over, about the telethon. Like a lot of you I sat watching wishing I could pack a bag and go there and help. I found myself wishing there was more that I could do.
Some people on Twitter were apologizing for how they only gave a little, to which I want to say: It's not how much you donate — it's that you did. Every dollar counts, every e-mail counts, every phone call counts. It all helps.

'Eclipse' Star Kirsten Prout Discusses Her 'Really Dark' Role
04 Jan 2010
'I've never played a villain in my entire career,' 'Twilight' newcomer explains.
While fans eagerly await the June release of "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse," one of the film's stars, Kirsten Prout, is opening up about joining the cast for the third film in the franchise. She plays Lucy in the film, the vampire who turns Jasper (Jackson Rathbone) into a vampire. And she says she enjoyed getting to embrace her inner bad girl for the film.
"I've always been on the good side. I've never played a villain in my entire career. I'm the girl next door, or the girl who helps out, or the girl that makes an innocent escape. For once, I got to look all innocent and have that angelic quality, and then, all of a sudden, turn into something really dark," Prout, who starred on the TV series "Kyle XY," told Iesb.net. "That was fun for me. That was the first villain that I've ever played."
Like Rathbone's onscreen sister, Rosalie, played by Nikki Reed, Prout gets in on the backstory action in the movie as well. "Without revealing too much, Lucy is one of the vampires that turns Jasper, played by Jackson Rathbone. Jasper gets turned while he is an officer, and I'm one of the vampires that causes Jasper to be turned during his military career," Prout added. "Lucy appears to be an innocent little victim, and then she turns into something a lot more sinister."
Not only did Prout get along "really well" with Rathbone, she also raved about the franchise's third director, David Slade. "He's a great guy because his way of working is so open. He just says, 'Do what you do,' and lets you play with it. If he has notes, he gives them to you, but he's a very open director. He keeps it light," she explained. "He loves his job and he's very serious about it. He's a great director."

Charlie Bewley Says Eclipse Will Be ‘Dark and Vicious’
30 Dec 2009
Twilight star Charlie Bewley speaks to Nikki Barr about just how different the third film, Eclipse, will be
NEW Moon star Charlie Bewley says the third film in the Twilight Saga, Eclipse, is going to be very dark.
Charlie Bewley, who plays Volturi vampire Demetri in Twilight Saga: New Moon and Eclipse, says the next installment is set to be very different than the first two films
Speaking exclusively to OK.co.uk, Charlie revealed that director David Slade is going to add a nasty tone to the vampire love story.
He told us: “David is a master of mood. Eclipse has this different mood about it, it’s dark and vicious. You get to see the brutal nature of vampires and what they are really capable of, which is something we haven’t really seen in the first two movies.”
And the star told us David works very differently to New Moon director Chris Weitz.
He said: “They are very different directors. David understands what each scene needs [to create the dark mood] – absolute fine tuning. He might stop the scene halfway through and just tweak something before saying: ‘Go back, say that word again and I want you to put the emphasis on that’.

'New Moon' Star Justin Chon Interviews Muse
16 Dec 2009
'We might be able to lay something down that gets used in the film,' frontman Matthew Bellamy says of songs for 'Eclipse.'
LOS ANGELES — Ever since the earliest days of Stephenie Meyer dreaming about a clumsy girl and a pale vampire spending time together in a meadow, Muse have been there to serve as the "Twilight" author's, well, muse. For proof, look no further than her acknowledgements in the "New Moon" novel: "And, finally, thank you to the talented musicians who inspire me, particularly the band Muse — there are emotions, scenes, and plot threads in this novel that were born from Muse songs and would not exist without their genius."
Several years later, the band has appeared on both massively successful soundtracks to the first two "Twilight" films and share millions of fans with the vampire franchise. This past weekend, the British band returned to Los Angeles to headline KROQ's annual Almost Acoustic Christmas festival. We snagged an all-access pass for "Twilight Saga" star Justin Chon — a huge fan of the band's — and after the show he got them to open up about backstage antics, whether it's better to be a rocker or an actor, and the song they're hoping to get on the "Eclipse" soundtrack.
Justin Chon: Oh my God, you guys were absolutely amazing, the whole show — how it was produced was amazing, the balloons and the piano and rocking on the guitar, everything was just perfect. This is my first rock show backstage experience ever.
Matthew Bellamy: So, how'd it go?
Chon: It was everything that I imagined it would be.
