'Twilight' Stars Reveal Key 'New Moon' Scenes
10 Jun 2009
Alice's Porsche, Jasper's freak-out and Bella's three-way date with Jacob and Mike were all filmed.
UNIVERSAL CITY, California - It's one of the most anticipated films of 2009 and already has hundreds of fan sites devoted to it. Now, the stars of "New Moon" are revealing details about key scenes from the flick that will surprise even the most die-hard fans.
"There's definitely a difference in scale," marveled Robert Pattinson when we caught up with him recently. "I liked doing 'Twilight,' but it felt very much like an indie movie - and ['New Moon'] definitely feels like it's a big movie."
"Kristen [Stewart] and Taylor [Lautner] had to lobby to get this one scene in the film that wasn't originally in - and I am forever indebted to them for that," revealed Mike Welch, citing a beloved moment from Stephenie Meyer's "New Moon" novel. "There's a scene that's in the book, the three-way date between Jacob and Bella and Mike, where Mike ends up getting sick, and it's just very awkward."
As for how physically ill Welch's Mike Newton gets in the comic-relief scene, he said we shouldn't expect projectile vomit or anything. "We're talking a little bit," he laughed. "A little sick."

Hyped New Moon Cast Disses Original Director
08 Jun 2009
The best part of Twilight was Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart. Loved the books, but the movie...well. We think it could have been done a tad better—and I think the cast of New Moon agrees. That's why when we saw the trailer last weekend we were über-stoked because we could tell it was gonna kick butt.
Maybe having a different director, namely Chris Weitz, the second time around was the key.
And the cast seems to concur:
Peter Facinelli told the A.T.:
"When we shot Twilight, it felt like it was an indie. We were racing the clock. Catherine [Hardwicke] was fantastic, but with New Moon it felt like we had more time to play. The atmospheres were different. They were both great...in their own ways. I just think New Moon is going to be incredible."
Michael Welch also told us how better prepared they were to film from day one.
"When we all got on the set the first day, [Chris Weitz] gave us this packet of 30 to 40 pages of what he wanted the film to look and feel like—how he was going to shoot it, all of that stuff. The thing is, both Chris and Catherine—I don't want to say one is better than the other. They are polar opposites in terms of style. Catherine can only succeed in chaos, really. But Chris is the exact opposite; he's so calm and has all his stuff together. He really made this film great."

Michael Sheen Opens Up On ‘New Moon’ And Working With Director Chris Weitz
06 Jun 2009
There’s this little vampire movie coming out in November called “New Moon.” Perhaps you’ve heard of it? Among the new characters joining the series is Aro, one of three leaders of the Volturi coven, the largest organized group of vampires in Stephenie Meyer’s “Twilight” universe. Michael Sheen (”Underworld: Rise of the Lycans,” “Frost/Nixon,” “Blood Diamond”) is the one stepping into Aro’s shoes for the silver screen adaptation of “New Moon,” and Empire recently had an opportunity to chat with him about it.
From the sound of things, Sheen enjoyed his time on the “New Moon” set. “It was great to work with Chris Weitz; it was a really funny set, really relaxed,” the actor told Empire. His part in “New Moon” is admittedly a small one, but Sheen spoke hopefully about working with Weitz again. “That might be the thing that I direct, I don’t know yet, you never know.”
He goes on to talk about his impressions of both his character and the “young, beautiful” cast that he worked with. It’s a brief interview, but enlightening stuff if you’re a “Twilight” fan. Which I’m guessing that a few of you are.
Are you familiar with Sheen’s other work? Excited about seeing the “Underworld” lycan reinvent himself in a “Twilight” vampire role? What might this directing project be that he speaks of?

Empire Exclusive: Michael Sheen On New Moon
03 Jun 2009
On his character in the Twilight sequel
In The Twilight Saga: New Moon, due out later this year, Michael Sheen takes the role of Aro, head vampire of an ancient coven that rules the vampire world. We talked to him recently, and asked for the lowdown on a bloodsucking role that's a far cry from his recent run of real-life figures.
"I'm all done on it; I had a great time," he told us. "It was nice to go in and not be playing the main part, just go in for a few days and play this really really extraordinary character. I remember I was thinking, 'Oh, there's a bit of a Child Catcher here [from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang]; bit of the Blue Meanie from The Yellow Submarine; bit of Olivier from Richard III. There was a bit of all kinds of stuff."
He also talked about director Chris Weitz.
"It was great to work with Chris Weitz; it was a really funny set, really relaxed. We had a lot of things in common, and hopefully we're going to work together again soon doing something. That might be the thing that I direct, I don’t know yet, you never know."
And the rest of the cast? "It was quite intimidating being on the set with so many young, beautiful people. That was quite extraordinary being the old, ugly one amongst loads of young, beautiful ones. It's not something I'm used to really. Not because I'm young and beautiful but usually there's loads of old, ugly people around me. It was quite encouraging to see how Robert and Kristin are committed to it, how much they put into it and how serious they are about it. They don't take it lightly at all so that was great to see."
So, from playing a werewolf in the Underworld movies to a vampire here, it sounds like Sheen's got the undead pretty much covered. One thing's for sure: his description of his character has got us interested. What do you think? Is he your Aro?

Eclipse: Casting for Third Twilight Flick Underway
01 Jun 2009
Casting for the third Twilight movie has begun.
We got our hands on a casting notice for at least three characters in Eclipse.
Find out just what director David Slade is looking for. However, we must warn you that there are a few spoilers…
Riley "is a handsome, blond, clean-cut college boy who falls victim to Victoria," the notice reads. He's in his early to mid 20s and "plays an integral role in Victoria's attempt to murder Bella Swan."
There are two more members of the Quileute tribe and La Push wolf pack in Eclipse. Like New Moon, they are looking for Native American or First Nations actors to fill the roles.
"Seth Clearwater is a "tall, gangly-limbed boy with a huge, happy grin," the notice reads. "Seth idolizes Jacob."
