Peter Facinelli Was Aiming For 'Satire' With F-Bomb Laden Acceptance Speech

08 Jun 2010

When Twilight/Nurse Jackie actor Peter Facinelli took the stage at last night’s MTV Movie Awards to accept the vampire film’s award for best movie, he dropped a truly alarming number of f-bombs — and caught the poor exhausted censor off-guard. Thus, the presumably virgin ears of those watching the MTV Movie Awards — consistently a bastion of prudish propriety on a cable channel whose finest moments tend to involve same-sex lip-locks, binge drinking, and/or naked people – were totally scathed by the profanity. Horror, naturally, abounded.

Today, Facinelli sent EW.com the following statement: “My acceptance speech was meant as a satirical commentary to poke fun at the record breaking number of f-bombs dropped during the show. Secretly, I hope that David Mamet tuned in last night in case he’s prepping a revival of Glengarry Glen Ross.”

MTV’s statement read as follows: “The MTV Movie Awards is a live televised event known for irreverent comedy and a party atmosphere where our guests speak more freely than they otherwise might. While we aired the live broadcast with a delay, we were unable to mute every word that some might find objectionable. All of these words will be muted in subsequent airings. We sincerely apologize to those in our audience who were offended by any objectionable words that might have slipped by for the live airing.”

'Eclipse' 'Exceeded All My Expectations,' Peter Facinelli Says

07 Jun 2010

'Seeing the whole Cullen tribe just roll up their sleeves and go to town? That's pretty exciting,' he tells MTV News.

UNIVERSAL CITY, California — Take a deep breath, sit down and get ready for some news that might make you angry, folks: Somebody out there in the world has seen "Eclipse" — and it's not you.

"I just saw it two days ago," a hot new film reviewer who simply bills himself as "The Fatch" told us Sunday at the MTV Movie Awards. "To see that movie [was amazing]; it exceeded all my expectations."

OK, in case you haven't figured it out yet, "The Fatch" is actually Peter Facinelli. And he saw the film because he has one key advantage over ordinary people like ourselves: He plays family patriarch Dr. Carlisle Cullen in the "Twilight" films. So, needless to say, he's got a few strings he can pull from time to time.

"I love the battle sequence," Facinelli said of his favorite scene in the movie, a briefly-glimpsed-in-the-trailers climax that has Jasper, Emmett, Alice and the rest throwing down alongside werewolves as they take on a ravenous army of newborn vampires. "I've got to tell ya — seeing the whole Cullen tribe just roll up their sleeves and go to town? That's pretty exciting."

It's no secret that the "Twilight" stars love the MTV Movie Awards and have annually made the trek — not just to pick up some Golden Popcorn, but also to re-energize themselves with a powerful reminder of why they're working so hard on this massive franchise. According to Facinelli, Sunday was another lesson on why it's time to get to work promoting "Eclipse" and then dive right into "Breaking Dawn" madness.

"It's all the fans. I mean, I'm humbly overwhelmed by their support and love of these movies," Facinelli marveled. "I hope they enjoy 'Eclipse' just as much, if not more. It's my favorite book of the series, and it was a high-water mark for me going in."

‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’ is a Bloodbath for the Cullens

30 Apr 2010

They must battle an army of new vampires controlled by Victoria and this time you’ll get to see their ‘true vampire-ness,’ according to actor Peter Facinelli.

The family that slays together, stays together.

At least that's the case for the Cullen brood.

In "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse," which hits theaters June 30, Seattle is ravaged by a series of killings caused by an army of newborn vampires controlled by revenge-seeking bloodsucker Victoria. To combat the threat against Bella ( Kristen Stewart) in this third installment of the franchise, the Cullens must band together and join forces with their sworn enemies, the wolf pack.

"The whole family is in a vulnerable position because of the love we have for Bella," said Elizabeth Reaser, who plays matriarch Esme Cullen. "If she's not OK, we're not OK."

In the past, we've seen the clan hit baseballs so hard that they can play only in a thunder storm, to block out the sound. And we've watched the buttoned-up human imposters welcome Bella into their home as the human girlfriend of one of their own — the handsome Edward.

"This time around, you get to see their true vampire-ness," said Peter Facinelli, who plays head vampire Dr. Carlisle Cullen in the series based on the bestselling books by Stephenie Meyer.

Peter Facinelli on the Sensuality of Vampires, On-set Romances and Twitter

24 Mar 2010

The Independent recently posted an interview they had with Peter Facinelli. They discussed a variety of things, including Twitter, his TV roles, his wife, and of course Twilight:

What do you think of the sometimes fraught on-set Hollywood romances that appear in the tabloids, from the perspective of someone who has made a successful marriage with a former co-star?

I don’t know too much about other people’s relationships. I just know about mine, and every day I love my wife a little bit more. The idea of doing anything to jeopardise it is unthinkable. But I do think it’s inevitable that if you throw people together a lot sometimes things will happen. Not just in film, in any working environment, but probably more so in film and television because people are taken far away from their normal lives. It’s like a reality TV show where people are left isolated on a desert island. They start relationships because they are out of their reality and as a result they’re sometimes not very real.

How have you coped with the attention from fans that Twilight must have brought you?

It doesn’t really affect me on a daily level. I don’t get mobbed like Robert Pattinson (who plays his step-son Edward Cullen in the Twilight Saga). I really enjoy corresponding with fans. Any time you meet someone who is excited about your work it’s gratifying. It’s better than having people throw rotten tomatoes at you! The most attention I get is kids ringing the doorbell of my house.

Why do you think people are so interested in vampires and the supernatural?

I think there’s a sensuality about vampires. A monstrousness. They offer up eternal life in exchange for blood. There’s something intense about wanting someone so much that you have to devour them. The biting of the neck. It’s sexy.

Is Twilight Too Naughty for Peter Facinelli?

03 Mar 2010

We had the chance to chat with Peter Facinelli at Sunday's Milk & Bookies fundraiser, where he blabbed about Robsten's on-set presence. He may have been vague about Twilight's true love story, but he did dish some deets about Breaking Dawn, Eclipse and whether his kiddies have read the Twilight series.

The Cullen family papa attended the event with his wife, Jennie Garth, and three daughters in tow, but, despite recently dropping the bomb that she's leaving 90210, J.G. got to sit back while reporters bombarded her hottie hubby in a chaotic interview.

As Marc Malkin revealed in his latest video blog, Peter kept his lips zipped when it came to any news of splitting Breaking Dawn into two movies, shrugging it off by saying no scripts had been written yet.

"It's a very thick book. I think that two movies would be a good thing for the franchise. I support it, but ultimately it's up to what Summit decides," Peter chatted, though he seemed to pick his words very carefully.

"I'm having a great time with the franchise, so if we get to do two more that would be fun."

‘Twilight’ Star Peter Facinelli Returns To St. Francis Prep

23 Dec 2009

Students at St. Francis Preparatory School got a glimpse of Hollywood up close and personal as Prep alumnus and current “Twilight” star Peter Facinelli came back to the Fresh Meadows school and spoke to students.

Facinelli, who plays Dr. Carlisle Cullen in the “Twilight” movies, addressed two student assemblies – one filled with seniors and a second of performing arts students – on Wednesday, December 16 about his career and TV and movie business overall.

The students, one of whom held up a “Peter, marry me” sign during the assembly, snapped photos of the star and asked him questions about his career and the acting business in general.

“He came to us a professional and not as a celebrity,” said St. Francis Prep sophomore Nora Martini, who is a performing arts student at the school. “He talked to us about the business and how this was his dream to become an actor.”

“It’s wild, but I know that St. Francis Prep offers you so much to do, and I knew there were a lot of successful people who have graduated and will graduate from here,” Martini said.

Peter Facinelli Says a Cullen Family Thanksgiving Would Be Just as Awkward as Yours

27 Nov 2009

Just because vampires are undead doesn't mean that they don't face the same problems at their family get-togethers as the rest of us.

Celebuzz caught up with Peter Facinelli—perhaps best known as the Twilight saga's vampire patriarch Carlisle Cullen—and quizzed him about how his blood-sucking clan might celebrate Thanksgiving.

What he described to us was a messy affair marked by family squabbling and tensions over uninvited guests. Sound familiar? Read on.

As far as settings go, Facinelli figures the Cullens would feast in the woods—not so much to capture that authentic Pilgrims-and-Indians vibe, but because, well, they're not too big on table manners:

"It would probably involve hunting in the woods. They're kind of messy eaters. I envision them going to a forest with fall leaves falling and with a little bib around their necks and they'd go hunting."
