Selena Gomez Sides With Pal Taylor Lautner, Joins Team Jacob

Singer/actress says her friendship with the 'Twilight' star helped her get into the series.

While Selena Gomez never admitted to dating "Twilight" star Taylor Lautner, the two definitely don't seem to be together any longer. But just because the heartthrob is out of her life, that doesn't mean he's out of her heart. When MTV News posed the classic Twilighter conundrum — Team Edward or Team Jacob? — to Gomez, she went with her pal.

"This question is so hard. I don't know, I like them both," she told MTV News. "I have to chose one of them? I don't know, I guess Team Jacob, 'cause I want to be a good friend."

She admitted that she came to the saga a little late. It wasn't until she started hanging out with Lautner that she watched the flick to see what all the fuss was about. And now, she can't get enough of it and can't wait for "New Moon" to hit theaters in November.

"To be honest, I really wasn't [into the 'Twilight' franchise]," she told MTV News. "I never read the books, I never saw the movie. And then, I got the wonderful opportunity of meeting Taylor, and we became friends, and I watched it 'cause I love to support my friends, and I ended up loving it."

Selena isn't the only member of her family who's hooked on the series. "Me and my mom were like, 'OK, this movie is pretty awesome,' " she said. "We're going to the ['New Moon'] premiere."

Competing for Bella - Box Office Interview Taylor Lautner

Earlier in the week Box Office had an interview with Chris Weitz. Now, they have posted a great interview with Taylor:

If the last two books in the series hadn't already been written, what do you think Jacob should do to win over Bella?

I don't think he would have changed anything, and I don't think he should change anything. Jacob and Edward are extremely different guys and it's just whether you want one guy or another. Jacob is himself, and he has a relationship with Bella that Edward doesn't. And Edward has a relationship with Bella that Jacob doesn't. So I wouldn't change a thing.

As an actor, how do you make the audience root for Jacob and get invested in his feelings when the outcome of the love triangle is already known?

Well, you try and take things one step at a time. When I'm filming New Moon, I'm not thinking about Eclipse. When I'm filming Eclipse, I'm not thinking about Breaking Dawn. We just have to focus on the movie that we're doing.

What is it like for your family and friends to see people scream at pictures of you topless?

[Laughs] It's weird. It's embarrassing for me, and I'm sure it's awkward for all of them.

Taylor Lautner: Robert Pattinson Doesn't Need Workout Advice

'He definitely doesn't need any pointers at all," Lautner joked about the actors' shirtless appearances in 'New Moon.'

On Sunday night at the MTV Video Music Awards, many, many, many things went down. Kanye West went on a tirade during Taylor Swift's Best Female Video acceptance speech. Lady Gaga got bloody during her performance of "Paparazzi." And, oh yeah, the extended trailer for "New Moon" made its big debut, and Taylor Lautner, Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson were on hand to premiere it.

Before Lautner headed into the show though, he stopped to speak to MTV News about the trailer, which features him shirtless much of the time.

"I think they might start crying," he guessed about what he thought might be the fans' reaction to seeing him as werewolf Jacob Black running around with his wolf pack.

But Lautner isn't the only one Twilighters got an eyeful of in the trailer — Robert Pattinson also appears sans shirt. And Lautner insists that if the two were to compete in some kind of shirt-off, the competition would be stiff. "I don't know [who would win]. Rob, he's getting some muscle," he explained. "There's some good competition."

Robert Pattinson: Hard at Work on “Eclipse”

Still plugging away at the third installment of the “Twilight” films, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart were spotted on the set of “Eclipse” on Wednesday (September 9).

The “New Moon” costars looked to be enjoying each other’s company as the chatted and joked in between shooting scenes for the sure-to-be-hit movie.

Also on the set was another hunky costar - Taylor Lautner, who was all smiles as he talked with the director about his scenes.

And though “Eclipse” isn’t due in theaters until June 30th, 2010, you can catch all kinds of vampire action when “New Moon” hits screens across America on November 20th.
