Kellan Lutz Loved Seeing Ashley Greene 'Transform' For 'Warrior'
22 Jul 2010
'Ashley's friggin' talented,' he raves about his 'Twilight' co-star.
After playing Ashley Greene's vampire brother in three "Twilight" movies, it could have been weird for Kellan Lutz to play her love interest in the upcoming movie "Warrior." But at the 2010 VH1 Do Something Awards, where Lutz won recognition for his work with animals, the actor had the highest praise for his co-star.
In the movie, set for release sometime in 2011, Lutz plays a lacrosse player whose life spirals out of control after his father dies.
"Ashley's friggin' talented. It's really cool to see your friend [in a different way] and to work with a friend, let alone her being so talented, to see her transform from one character to another," he raved of Greene, who plays a girl named Brooklyn. "Alice is a fun little pixie character, and then Brooklyn, you know, is a sweet, lacrosse-player type of coach's daughter. It's fun working with her and seeing her transform herself."
Despite their on-screen romance in "Warrior," Lutz said that in real life he and Ashley are like brother and sister. "It's very much like working with family," he explained.
In late 2008, Greene spoke to MTV News about the project. "['Warrior'] is about Kellan's journey," she said. "It's very much Kellan's movie, which is really exciting for him. It's his journey that he goes through, with trials and errors, and his temper and stuff like that. And I join forces with him, and my dad doesn't like that very much, so we deal with that."

'Eclipse' Star Jackson Rathbone Recalls Being Sent To Hospital By Kellan Lutz
27 May 2010
We learned last month from Nikki Reed that one of the scariest moments on the "Eclipse" set was when Jackson Rathbone got punched. The third movie is the most action-packed of all the "Twilight Saga" films, and fortunately, Jackson was the only cast member to be hurt in any sort of serious way.
He and Kellan Lutz were practicing a scene in the film in which Jasper is teaching Emmett how to battle newborn vampires, and an accidental punch from Kellan caught Jackson in the temple and ended up with him being sent to the hospital. "Kellan and I were going over our moves — we hadn't had any time to rehearse — and we were out in mud, so it was really slick and everything," Jackson recalled to MTV News. "He punched too low, and I didn't duck low enough. He caught me right in the temple, kind of knocked me for a loop. I didn't fall, but I was kind of out of it for the next couple takes."
Lucky for Jackson, he happened to have a comrade on set who noticed he was acting a little weird. "My agent happened to be on set and was trying to talk to me apparently during the takes, and I wasn't listening or I wasn't really aware of what was happening," he said. "He was like, 'I think Jackson's kind of thrown for a loop. We should get him checked out.' Apparently, I wasn't speaking in full sentences, and I had a mild concussion. So they sent me to the hospital to get my brain checked out."
The star said that he was back at work by 5 am the next morning. "I heal quickly, you know. I'm like Wolverine, back in a jiffy," he joked. The irony of it all is that while working on "The Last Airbender," which required months of Kung Fu training and highly choreographed fight scenes, he wasn't injured — yet, on the set of the "Twilight" movie, one little punch sent him to the hospital.
"I'm glad it wasn't a sword!" he said with a laugh, adding, "Hey, getting hit by a guy like Kellan and not falling down? I'm pretty happy with that." Sounds like he was pretty lucky after all.

'Twilight' Crisis Averted! Cullen Kids Sign For Final Movies
19 May 2010
"Twilight" Nation can breathe a collective sigh of relief. Kellan Lutz and Ashley Greene, the actors who play the Cullen kids in the blockbuster vampire franchise, have resolved their salary dispute with Summit Entertainment, signing on for what will almost certainly be a two-part adaptation of "Breaking Dawn."
Lutz and Greene are getting in the neighborhood of $1.25 million for each of the final movies, we're told. A far cry from either the $4 million or $2 million (depending on who you believe) paydays they were initially seeking. But certainly more than they made for the first three movies.
We're told the deals closed last night after a week of tense negotiations. Will the studio now officially greenlight a fifth "Twilight"? No word yet, and sources say the trigger won't be pulled until everything is 100% finalized. But now that the principal cast (Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner) are wrapping up deals, supporting players are signed and director Bill Condon is on board for two movies, we expect an announcement very soon.

Breaking Dawn Salary Disputes "Could Turn Ugly," Director Says
18 May 2010
Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke warns that Kellan Lutz and Ashley Greene could be replaced -- like Rachelle Lefevre -- in the hit vampire flicks if they ask for too much money to reprise their roles in Breaking Dawn.
"Ashley and Kellan have agents, managers, lawyers... you get all of these outside influences telling you you should hold out for this much because you're such an important part of the franchise," Hardwicke told UsMagazine.com at the Twilight convention in Vancouver on Sunday.
The Hollywood Reporter says Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson have already received huge raises for their roles in Stephenie Meyer's fourth book, which is rumored to be split into two movies. But the secondary characters are still negotiating salaries.
A source tells Us that "Summit leaked the story to turn fans against the cast. They are leading the negotiations to the press and are trying to make them look greedy... Summit has made millions and the cast is just looking to get what they deserve."
Said Hardwicke, "Possibly, Rachelle and Ashley and Kellan might not even be all that involved. They have all the other people telling them things and a lot of stuff can get mishandled, like what happened with Rachelle. There's so many possible misunderstandings. It breaks my heart."
"It could turn ugly. Do [these actors] deserve more money? Probably they do, on one level. But if everybody make so much money then... it's complicated. What a mess!" she continued.
The source tells Us, "The leads made 20 times as much on Eclipse than they did on Twilight," continues the source. "The non-leads are not asking for anything close to that."
Meanwhile, Pattinson and Stewart tell USA Today why they haven't been photographed together recently. (Us Weekly reported last month that they have a system for sneaking around to see each other. While filming Eclipse, out June 30, they spent most of their nights together, but, says a source, "always had two separate drivers to give the illusion they weren't an item.")
"We have gotten better at hiding over the last year," Pattinson admits. Agrees Stewart, "We are just good hiders now."

'Breaking Dawn' Salary Squabble: Co-Stars Want $4 Million Each
12 May 2010
It’s no surprise that salary negotiations would be the key stumbling block to splitting the fourth and final Twilight book, Breaking Dawn, into two movies. (The actors’ contracts cover only four movies. This would make it five.) But who could have guessed it would be the supporting actors, not the stars, who would go to the mat for more money? As first reported by The Hollywood Reporter, co-stars Ashley Greene and Kellan Lutz are taking a hard-line approach to negotiations, while Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner are close to signing their deals for both films. Director Bill Condon has already done so.
Greene and Lutz don’t have huge roles. Greene portrays Alice Cullen, the future-seeing sister of Edward Cullen and Bella’s closest friend in the Cullen clan. Lutz plays older brother Emmett Cullen and his part, so far, has been minor. Yet sources tell EW.com that the duo are asking for $4 million a piece for each of the final two films. Greene and Lutz had initially banded together with fellow co-stars Nikki Reed and Jackson Rathbone to form a united front, but sources say Reed backed down and is now close to finalizing her deal, which is said to be in the $750,000-$1 million range per film — the amount Summit initially offered the four cast members. (Rathbone’s status remains unclear, and his reps had not returned a call for comment at press time. Reed’s manager declined to comment.)
The studio declined to comment on the negotiations. But sources tell EW.com that Greene and Lutz believe that because the supporting actors do as much publicity as the lead actors, and have to log almost as many hours on set, they should be paid accordingly. One source involved in the negotiations says that Greene and Lutz just want to get $1 million or more.
Either way, what is peculiar is that Greene and Lutz are banding together at all. Greene’s Alice is a much more instrumental character than Lutz’s Emmett is. And considering that Summit has replaced actors before who played hardball (Rachelle LaFevre was dropped from the upcoming Eclipse in favor of Bryce Dallas Howard), it wouldn’t be a surprise if Summit chooses to replace either actor. It’s just fans will probably be much more outraged over Greene leaving than Lutz.

Kellan Lutz Goes Shirtless & Questions Life In MTV's Exclusive 'Meskada' Clip
19 Apr 2010
Movie fans have yet another reason to get excited about this year’s Tribeca Film Festival: yes, ladies and gents, the festival will pick up where Calvin Klein underwear left off in showcasing Kellan Lutz’s shirtless body. Kellan’s new film “Meskada” (premiering on April 22) has a dark crime-related premise, but what most young female fans will be interested in is the bedroom scene when Kellan considers the after life, while semi-naked.
“You ever think about what’s after … life?” Kellan ponders, posing the loaded Q to a female friend (Grace Gummer) suffering from reoccurring zombie dreams (no seriously, she is). But more important than Kellan’s consideration of life’s larger mysteries is that he manages to deliver ALL his lines in the scene without moving his neck. Hopefully he wasn’t suffering from one of those awful cricks, and if so, he has since recovered.
Kellan plays small-town detective Noah Cordin, who’s trying to solve the murder of a boy in a highbrow idyllic town called Hilliard. Noah has a lot on his plate, seeing as how the killers left him zero clues at the crime scene, excepting a scrap of paper related to Noah’s hometown, Caswell. Noah returns to the town, as the case becomes harder and harder to solve; Caswell’s economic troubles simultaneously worsen, and the two towns – Hilliard and Caswell – grow increasingly strained.
You’ll have to see “Meskada” yourself to experience the film’s interesting climax, but until then hold yourself over with Kellan’s pensive side with our exclusive “Meskada” sneak peak. Find out if Noah Cordin can pull it together and crack the case at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival.
