On DVD: Pattinson Adds Zingers To Twilight Commentary

19 Mar 2009

After months of hype and screaming fangirls and barrels of newspaper ink dumped on Robert Pattinson and Twilight, there was bound to be some backlash.

But who’d have thought that the funniest voice in that critical chorus would be … RobPat himself.

There he is with director Catherine Hardwicke and co-star Kristen Stewart in the audio commentary on the new Twilight DVD, dissing himself and tossing in silly bits of new dialogue for his vampire hottie character, Edward Cullen.

During the school cafeteria scene where an iconic apple bounces off Edward’s feet and into his hands: “Wow, he’s a superhuman moron. … He wears lipstick, has a little bouffant and does little circus acts.”

A make-out scene with his human girlfriend, Bella (Stewart): “I’ve got one of those butt chins” - explaining his usual stubble and beards off camera. During other pivotal scenes Pattinson pipes in to point out his “scraggly sideburns,” “effeminate hands,” “sculpted eyebrows” and a clueless “where am I?” gaze.

Twilight' Stars To Surprise Fans At DVD-Release Parties

19 Mar 2009

SANTA MONICA, California - The "Twilight" movie might not be in 3-D, but as it arrives to DVD and Blu-ray on Saturday, don't be surprised if you find one of its stars jumping off the screen and into the room with you.

"I'm not usually the kind of guy that would go to [a fan event] or try to sneak into one," actor Edi Gathegi said recently, revealing plans that will undoubtedly leave some fans shrieking this weekend. "But I'm going to step outside of my comfort zone."

With the feverishly anticipated "Twilight" special-edition DVD landing in stores Saturday, midnight parties are being planned at bookshops, video stores and other locations all over the country. Twilighters can find the parties near them by visiting the movie's Web site and entering their ZIP code.

On Wednesday, a rep for Summit Entertainment confirmed an unprecedented plan for the DVD launch: "Twilight" stars are being dispatched to secret locations all over the country. If you attend one of the midnight launch parties listed on the site, you could come face-to-face with Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart or other favorites.

Fans Say Deleted Scenes Should Have Been In Theater

16 Mar 2009

Twilight DVD deleted scenes of Rob Pattinson & Kristen Stewart should've been in theater, fans say

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart took the theatrical world by storm in 2008 with Twilight. Viewers clapped and cheered as they first locked lips in the movie (though the scene of their first kiss, Twilight book fans know, was quite different in Stephenie Meyer's version; for more on this, see here). Yet, the kiss could have been a lot sooner - at least in dreams.

In one of the deleted scenes of the DVD, leaked onto the internet last week, Bella Swan’s first dream about Edward Cullen was a little juicier than that of the theatrical version. Though some say it was a little too racy for the big screen, many others disagree and say it should have very well been a part of the movie they saw in November, 2008.

Forks 'Twilight' Party To Celebrate DVD Release

16 Mar 2009

FORKS -- Fans who are frequently dazzled by Twilight are flocking to Forks on Friday for the release of the DVD of the first movie in the series.

A party put on by Forks store Dazzled by Twilight will draw at least 317 people who have already said they'd be attending with friends in tow, owner Annette Root said.

The Friday event will run from 10 p.m. until midnight, when the DVD will be distributed.

Root said she doesn't know how many people to expect, but had to move the event from her store at 61 Forks Ave. to the Rainforest Arts Center at 35 Forks Ave.

"There was just no way we could get everyone in the store," she said.

The arts center will be done up to look like the infamous ballet studio where main character Bella and her friendly vampire friends must fend off vicious vampire James.

Fans Get Bonus DVD Footage and New Direction In 'New Moon'

11 Mar 2009

Twilight fans who can't wait to see more of their vampire love affairs in movie theaters, can expect more on the film's DVD. Kristen Stewart, who stars as Bella, prepared to have all her humorous gaffes exposed in the outtakes.

"I love outtakes," Stewart said. "I love when the fantasy is broken down and revealed to everyone. I think it's funny. Literally, there wasn't a day that went by that we didn't have camera crews on set so I'm sure that they have hours of footage to cut together for the eager audience."

The sequel, New Moon begins shooting later this month, with Chris Weitz taking over directing. "Chris is like the most genuinely vested. He didn't just like jump on the bandwagon like, 'Ooh, let's get the next big successful movie. I want to do Twilight too.' He really likes it and is entirely involved. He's a really sweet guy and we're all really excited to work with him. I really like his work as well so it all just works out."

Stewart of course expected to continue the series with Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke, but these things happen in Hollywood. "It wasn't like it was a big bomb that was dropped. It wasn't such a shock. To be honest, I don't know about the sort of inner workings of whatever was going on within the studio. It was a comfortable situation."

Twilight Launches at Midnight

02 Mar 2009

Nationwide event planned for DVD release.

March 2, 2009 - Summit Home Entertainment will be celebrating the sure-to-be success of Twilight's DVD release on Friday, March 20th, with a nationwide retail event called Twilight at Midnight.

Taking place from 10pm until 12 midnight, the event will, according to Summit, "provide Twilight fans across the country with the chance to celebrate the midnight DVD release of the film that has unanimously been described as a 'full-blown pop culture phenomenon.'"

Twilight at Midnight will allow participating retailers the opportunity to stay open late as fans line up to purchase the DVD of the tween vampire romance. The official website, meanwhile, www.twilightthemovie.com will feature a "unique store locator" from which fans can find out which retailers will be holding midnight parties. Breaking news about the celebration as well as announcements of "special surprises" related to actors in the film will also be available on the site.

"We wanted to say thank you to all of those who came out in droves last year and helped make Stephenie Meyer's characters and story a truly successful movie," said Summit's president of home entertainment, Steve Nickerson. "What better way to celebrate than a weekend party with your fellow Twilight fans."
