Twilight Launches at Midnight

02 Mar 2009

Nationwide event planned for DVD release.

March 2, 2009 - Summit Home Entertainment will be celebrating the sure-to-be success of Twilight's DVD release on Friday, March 20th, with a nationwide retail event called Twilight at Midnight.

Taking place from 10pm until 12 midnight, the event will, according to Summit, "provide Twilight fans across the country with the chance to celebrate the midnight DVD release of the film that has unanimously been described as a 'full-blown pop culture phenomenon.'"

Twilight at Midnight will allow participating retailers the opportunity to stay open late as fans line up to purchase the DVD of the tween vampire romance. The official website, meanwhile, www.twilightthemovie.com will feature a "unique store locator" from which fans can find out which retailers will be holding midnight parties. Breaking news about the celebration as well as announcements of "special surprises" related to actors in the film will also be available on the site.

"We wanted to say thank you to all of those who came out in droves last year and helped make Stephenie Meyer's characters and story a truly successful movie," said Summit's president of home entertainment, Steve Nickerson. "What better way to celebrate than a weekend party with your fellow Twilight fans."

5 Reasons Why New Moon Could be Better Than Twilight

19 Feb 2009

In 2008 Twilight became an international box office hit, making over $356 million dollars worldwide. Based on the first book in the trilogy written by author Stephenie Meyer, Twilight gave fans and Summit Entertainment their money’s worth with an almost $70 million opening weekend, which nearly doubled the $37 million production budget. Numbers aside, Twilight generated mainstream interest in the remainder of the trilogy - New Moon and Eclipse - with a newly heightened anticipation already swelling amongst fans of the novels and the first film, which launched the beginning of what’s sure to be a lucrative, fan friendly franchise.

'Twilight' Diary: Exclusive Sneak Peek!

12 Feb 2009

Twilighters in need of a fix before Stephenie Meyer’s blockbuster sequel New Moon arrives in theaters thought they needed to wait until March 27 to see Rob Pattinson and Kristen Stewart again. That’s the day their new movies open: Little Ashes (Rob’s, a Salvador Dalí biopic) and Adventureland (Kristen’s, an ’80s comedy.) But it turns out fans can see their Twilight favorites much sooner. On March 17 Little, Brown will publish the detailed on-set journal that Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke kept throughout filming.

Hardwicke has given EW an exclusive first peek at Twilight: Director’s Notebook, which looks less like a diary than a scrapbook, studded with drawings, makeup and wardrobe notes, storyboards, lists, sketches, photos, and all kinds of odd nuggets of information (did you know Rob was first tricked out with hair extensions to give him his trademark look)? Hardwicke's publisher will only allow us to put two pages online, so to see the rest, you’ll have to pick up a copy of the Feb. 20 issue of EW, available here.

Hardwicke told EW that although she was “devastated” to not be directing New Moon-“I really did feel a strong connection to Stephenie and the actors” -she simply couldn’t do it under the terms Summit set forth, with a limited budget and strict timetable. The book is her smart, funny farewell, its margins full of her doodlings and ideas.

But the book isn’t the only thing fans have to look forward to. They’ll also be able to snap up the Twilight DVD on March 21. Its bonus materials, Hardwicke told EW, will include makeout scenes deleted from the movie.

Sarah Clarke Talks of Trust Me, Twilight and 24

08 Feb 2009

TVGuide.com: Are you on board for the Twilight sequel, New Moon?
Clarke: You know, they still haven't told me. They're being so secretive about it. They know I'm doing press for Trust Me, so they haven't told me anything yet. I think they don't want anything to get out.

TVGuide.com
: Have you read ahead with the other books to see what Bella's mom gets to do?
Clarke
: I have, and I know I'm involved, but the mother is such a strange role, I have to say. My instincts as a mother would never jibe with half the things Renee does.

TVGuide.com
: We'd be worried if they did!
Clarke: Even with the first book, I remember reading that the mother was always on the phone, whining. What's interesting in that? Luckily, Catherine [Hardwicke, who also wrote and directed Thirteen] gave me a lot more fun things to do, and gave us a real relationship. So that's the big question for the second book, where again the mother is relegated to the phone. I don't know if they'll stay true to that.

TVGuide.com
: If you as a teenager had to choose between a vampire boy and a werewolf, which way do you think you'd lean?
Clarke: Oh, I'd definitely go vampire. Werewolves are too hairy.

TVGuide.com
: But wouldn't the hickeys be worse?
Clarke: Maybe. But you could wear a turtleneck.
